Frequently Asked Questions

What should I expect at my first massage session? Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your appointment time to fill out a short client intake form and use the restroom. Your therapist might be in a session upon arrival so please have a seat outside the treatment room. Your therapist will escort you to your treatment room to have you complete your health intake form. They will then review your intake form, discuss any areas of concern and medications so that they are able to tailor your session to your specific needs. Your therapist will leave the room, allow you time to dress down and get comfortable on the massage table under the sheet and blanket. Communication between client and therapist is key. Please let your therapist know if you like heat on the table, if the temperature is too hot or cold. During your session, please don’t be afraid to let your therapist know if the pressure is too much or not enough. Upon completion of your session, your therapist will leave the room, allow you to get dressed and then meet you at the desk for payment. Please make sure to drink plenty of water after your massage to to reduce soreness and flush out toxins.

What am I expected to wear for my massage session? We always want our clients to dress to their comfort level. It is recommended that clients dress down to their undergarments and woman remove bras to allow for constant flow when working on the back. In order to protect your modesty, you will be properly draped for the entirety of the session.

How do I know what massage is best for me? We use the term “therapeutic massage” because massage isn’t one size fits all. We tailor our Therapeutic Massage to address a specific need using the required pressure & a combination of specific massage modalities to produce a therapeutic effect. Your massage therapist will use the client intake and assessments they’ve gathered to develop a massage treatment plan that’s tailored to your acute or chronic conditions. If you are unsure of what massage would be best for you, we highly recommend starting with a Therapeutic Massage.

What is the difference between a sports massage and a regular massage? A Sports Massage is more stretching than it is a massage. It’s designed for athletes post workout to aid in the rapid recovery of muscles. Sport Massage includes numerous stretches and joint rotations to improve mobility and flexibility. Clients would wear loose fitting clothes, running shorts/pants, yoga pants, stretch pants, to your appointment to allow for maximum stretching.

Should a tip my massage therapist? While tipping is not required, it is sure appreciated. When tipping, most clients leave 15%-20%. Tipping can be cash or added to a credit card along with the service fee.

Will I be sore after my massage? While it is possible you may feel some onsite soreness with any massage, we highly recommend drinking plenty of water after your session & throughout the day to help reduce soreness & flush out toxins. With a Deep Tissue Massage you should expect to have some soreness lasting 24-48 hours.

While we do not accept health insurance, or bill your insurance company, we do know that Massage therapy CAN be a qualified medical expense, if you meet your insurance companies criteria.
