I’ve always been an advocate for healthy living and massage has been, from an early age, a necessary part of my wellness routine. Through educating my clients, I hope to inspire others to incorporate massage into their health care regimen. As a 2017 graduate of the massage therapy program at Illinois Central College, I am eager to begin my new career and apply my knowledge and skills to serve my clients! As a goal oriented therapist, I love solving the mysteries of the human body through creating specialized sessions and treatment plans unique to each client’s needs. I enjoy incorporating tools into my practice and teaching my clients self-care tips so that they can continue to receive the benefits of massage until their next session. I am trained in Trigger Point Therapy, Swedish, Therapeutic, Sports, Chair, Hot Stone and Prenatal Massage.
My name is Benjamin Shelby. I am a recent graduate of Illinois Central College's massage therapy program. Some things I love in life are advocating and practicing good health and wellness, yoga, making art, nature, and most of all my family; my significant other Bayleigh and my son Jasper. My first experience with massage therapy occured during my battle with cancer years ago as I was recovering from major surgeries. I found that massage was key to my rehabilitation and pain relief and have since been inspired to spread this healing practice with any who seek it. I am trained in Sports, Chair, Swedish, Therapeutic and Deep Tissue Massage. I hope to see you soon and until then, blessings!
My interest in massage began as a client. I experienced the benefits massage provided while recovering from knee surgery and dealing with the stress of a corporate career. In 2011 I graduated from Illinois Central College and since then have been a licensed massage therapist and American Massage Therapy Association member. My passion is to help people to feel well and to maintain their muscular health so that they are able to do the activities they love. This is what led me to develop my specialty, a Runners Therapy. With over 880 hours of classroom and clinical training I'm skilled at Sport, Deep Tissue, Swedish, Chair Massage, Runner's therapy, Myofascial Release and Kinesio Taping. I'm professional, respectful and ready to apply my knowledge and experience to every clients need.
I graduated from Illinois Central College in 2011 in Therapeutic Massage. I've wanted to do Massage Therapy because I love to see how it can improve the lives and health of many people. When on the swim team in high school I would receive sports massages that would benefit me to be able to swim better. Since then I've always had an interest in massage. Swedish, Deep Tissue and Sports Massage are my specialties.
Thanks to my sisters, I developed a passion for massage from an early age. By practicing pedicures on each other I saw how massage could improve the well-being of a person, even by just working on one specific area. As I got older I knew I wanted a career where I could assist in relieving people of pain and other ailments. Choosing to enroll in the massage program at ICC was a no-brainer for me. I became licensed in August 2012 after passing the board exam earlier that year. My favorite is therapeutic massage, because it combines many types of therapies and allows me to best tailor the massage to the client’s specific needs.
I have lived in the Peoria area for many years. I am one of the 1st to graduate from the Midwest Technical Institute, in 2010. Massage therapy is my passion because I enjoy helping to improve my clients overall health. I tailor my massages to each individual client's needs. Massage therapy is constantly evolving so I enjoy learning various techniques. I can apply everything I have learned to better meet my clients needs and issues. I'm trained in Swedish, Deep Tissue, Therapeutic, Sports, Prenatal, Neural Muscular, Hot Stone and Cranial Sacral massages. It's truly amazing for me to see all the different things massage can help with, such as sinuses, sciatic pain, headaches, and arthritis, just to name a few. My goal is to help each client continue to feel better. To encourage their progress. I demonstrate stretches for them to improve their flexibility, balance, mobility and stress relief. I really care about all my clients well being.
Massage became important to me after a football injury I sustained in high school. I have personally seen and experienced the significant benefits massage therapy offers. After high school, I moved to Chicago and attended the massage program at the National University of the Health Sciences in Lombard, Illinois. I graduated in 2009 and I've been a practicing Licensed Massage Therapist and a professional member of the American Massage Therapy Association since then. I am passionate about helping my clients obtain and maintain the highest level of health and wellbeing possible. I am trained in Swedish, Deep Tissue, Therapeutic, Chair, Trigger Point Therapy, Sports & Pregnancy Massage.
In my fifteen year massage career, I have served in various roles. I continually seek to keep abreast of the latest techniques and modalities to bring to my table. My curious personality ignites a passion to get to the root of each of my client's pain. Over the years, to meet the needs of clients, I have incorporated a wide variety of techniques including Swedish, Therapeutic, Prenatal, Oncology, Myofascial Release, Neuromuscular Therapy, Deep Tissue, Hot Stone and Sports Massage. I have a penchant for listening to the body and working together with my client to work through each layer of tissue, which is one reason I enjoy deep tissue. I prefer to utilize a variety of techniques in my sessions, so therapeutic massage comes naturally to me. The change of pace that results from on-site massage and sports events keeps me engaged. I am delighted to continue my path with such a wonderful team at ReNew. I am grateful for this opportunity to expand upon my knowledge and share my expertise to benefit others on the team.
The human body is truly fascinating to me, and helping people has always been a passion of mine. Putting these two together is why I chose to become a massage therapist. I love that massage not only benefits people physically, but mentally and emotionally as well. With a history of anziety & depression, I have found that massage allows me to sleep better, think more optimistically, and truly experience peace and relaxation. Since graduating from the Illinois Central College's Massage Therapy program in 2017, I haven't stopped trying to help those around me discover the benefits of massage. I am trained in Swedish, Deep Tissue, Chair, Sports Massage and Therapeutic massage.
